San Francisco:
The Mission celebrates with a procession on November 2, starting at 6 p.m. at 25th/Bryant and ending at the cultural center. An exhibit stays up from November 2 through December 2.


Los Angeles:
Olvera Street comes alive with dead folk! Saturday, November 1, from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 2, from 12-7. On Saturday at 3:30, there's face painting and a pinata, and decoration of pan de muertos. Both days, there are workshops for kids from noon to 4 p.m. El Pueblo Gallery will have a Day of the Dead exhibit through November 17.

And Border Grill will feature a special menu.


New York:
There will be a procession and party on Sunday, November 2, at the American Indian Community House (404 Lafayette Street, 8th floor). The fiesta is from 1-8 p.m., but the processional starts at 6 p.m.

Check out altars and exhibitions at Museo del Barrio (1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street, 212-831-7272) and at the National Museum of the American Indian (1 Bowling Green, 212-668-6624).

And of course, the venerable Zarela will have a special DOTD menu and an altar.
