The mission of the Edible Schoolyard at Martin Luther King Junior High School is to create and sustain an organic garden and landscape that is wholly integrated into the school's curriculum and lunch program. It involves students in all aspects of farming the garden - as well as in preparing, serving, and eating the food - so as to stimulate their senses and learn the transformative values of community responsibility, good nourishment, and good stewardship of the land.
