For 24 years this dark, lofty, plant-filled brick restaurant has been providing mostly organic goods to an allegiant clientele. Fish is farm-raised or procured from fisherman in Montauk, who ensure that no chemicals or preservatives are applied. The menu is vast, with a wonderful, eggless C`sar salad, mixed greens with goat cheese, corn-crusted calamari, organic rice and vegetables with tahini sauce, and semolina rigatoni with herb stewed tomatoes and roasted garlic. At lunch there`s an extensive list of sandwiches, organic hummus, a seafood stir-fry, and semolina fettucine with shiitake mushrooms, leeks and spicy tomato sauce.
